UEM Financial Support Strengthens Agricultural Development at Irente FarmThe Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania, North Eastern Diocese (ELCT-NED)  Rt. Rev. Dr. Msafiri Mbilu, officially inaugurated and handed over a new Cobley 1024 tractor together with a 24-disc hydraulic harrow valued at TZS 89 million to Irente Farm in Lushoto District.The tractor is a modern model manufactured in March, 2026.Speaking during the handover ceremony, Bishop Dr. Mbilu expressed his sincere gratitude to the United Evangelical Mission (UEM) for its  continued support of the Diocese’s development initiatives. Quoting Psalm 89:1, he emphasized the importance of accountability, diligence, and what he described as “a different pace of performance” among farm staff to ensure that the investment produces meaningful results for the Church and the wider community.The Director of Economy, Planning and Development  of the ELCT North Eastern Diocese, Ms. Pendo Lauwo, thanked the Bishop for his leadership and commitment to strengthening diocesan institutions. She also conveyed appreciation to UEM for its continued partnership and support. Ms. Lauwo noted that the tractor and harrow will significantly enhance productivity at Irente Farm, which covers 507 acres, and contribute to the sustainable development of the Diocese.Meanwhile, the Acting Farm Manager of Irente Farm, Mr. David Chanyeghea, commended Bishop Dr. Mbilu for his efforts in securing the equipment. He assured the Diocese leadership that the tractor and related implements will be used responsibly and efficiently in line with the Bishop’s vision, to improve agricultural production and maximize the benefits of the investment.The acquisition of the new agricultural equipment marks an important milestone in strengthening the farm’s operational capacity and advancing the Diocese’s long-term goals for sustainable agricultural development and economic growth.
